Battle Cry

With the concrete word that Brock will be leaving sometime between January & February with a 2 week notice from the Army, things seem to be getting a little more real for me. I’m one of those people that likes to plan for the worst, and hope for the best. So since hearing that Brock was going to Afghanistan, I tried to be positive about the prospect. But knowing the Army & our government, I figured it wasn’t for sure yet.

Well now it is… So while I tried to stay positive about Brock leaving for a 12-15 month deployment, + 3 months of training (so more like 15-18 months!) and being fine on my own and staying strong, I’m realizing while I may WANT to be fine & strong, it’s ok to have a hard time with coming to this realization that he’s going to be gone… again. While we didn’t plan on having a baby while Brock would be deployed, it’s obviously God’s plan for our lives and our family.

So if you think of our little family, prayers are always welcome. We don’t know when Brock will be leaving, but I pray that whenever it is, we make the most of our time here together.

It started out as a feeling

Which then grew into a hope

Which then turned into a quiet thought

Which then turned into a quiet word
And then that word grew louder and louder
‘Til it was a battle cry
I’ll come back
When you call me
No need to say goodbye
Just because everything’s changing
Doesn’t mean it’s never
Been this way before
All you can do is try to know
Who your friends are

As you head off to the war

Pick a star on the dark horizon

And follow the light
You’ll come back
When it’s over
No need to say good bye

You’ll come back

When it’s over
No need to say good bye
Now we’re back to the beginning
It’s just a feeling and no one knows yet
But just because they can’t feel it too
Doesn’t mean that you have to forget
Let your memories grow stronger and stronger
‘Til they’re before your eyes
You’ll come back
When they call you
No need to say good bye
You’ll come back
When they call you
No need to say good bye
